With more than 20 years of professional experience, Eng. Kamal has established herself as one of the region's foremost experts in healthcare engineering, facilities management, business development, and life safety. Dana has been leading the International Development of NFPA in MENA [DK4.1]), she leads strategic regional initiatives that promote the adoption of internationally recognized fire protection, building, and life safety codes and standards throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Working closely with Government Authorities, regulatory agencies, healthcare organizations, and industry leaders, she champions policies and training and education solutions for professionals[DK5.1] that protect lives, strengthen healthcare infrastructure, and improve public safety.

A key milestone in her career was playing an instrumental role in establishing NFPA's first International Regional Office in the MENA region, significantly expanding the organization's global presence[DK6.1] and building successful strategical partnerships with Government and Private Key industry players in the region setting the foundation for a sustainable relationship that helps promoting culture of safety and emergency preparedness for safer communities. Through her leadership, she has cultivated strategic partnerships, strengthened stakeholder engagement, and advanced the implementation of internationally recognized life safety standards, helping organizations throughout the region improve resilience, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. Her innovative business development strategies have also contributed to significant regional growth while fostering collaboration between government agencies, healthcare institutions, and industry stakeholders.

Prior to joining NFPA, Eng. Kamal spent more than a decade with Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, where she served as Senior Manager of Facilities Systems & Programs Support. She played an integral role in supporting one of the region's premier healthcare institutions from construction and commissioning through full operational readiness. She successfully developed and implemented numerous hospital-wide initiatives, including Fire-Life Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Business Continuity, Hospital Occupancy, Wayfinding, Asset Management, Facilities Training, and Utility Systems Management programs while collaborating with government authorities to uphold the highest international healthcare and safety standards[DK7.1], And was a instrumental in the operations team, in achieving the Joint Commission International JCI - hospital accreditation.

Earlier in her distinguished career, Eng. Kamal held leadership positions with Emaar Healthcare, Dubai Healthcare City, and Gulf Medical Equipment Company, overseeing clinical engineering operations, biomedical engineering projects, healthcare facility development, commissioning, and one of the UAE's largest Hospital Information System (HIS) Project ( WAREED) implementation projects connecting more than 13 government hospitals and over 80 ambulatory care centers.

Before embarking on her career, Eng. Dana Kamal earned a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Ajman University and a Master's Degree in Healthcare Management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). She further strengthened her expertise by completing Cornell University's Healthcare Facilities Planning and Design Program, earning a Certified Executive Director Diploma, and obtaining certifications in NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, Healthcare Safety, Emergency Management, and Fire Safety through the International Board of Certification of Safety Managers (IBFCSM). She is also an active member of the American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) and the American Hospital Association (AHA).

Throughout her illustrious career, Eng. Kamal has received numerous awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her outstanding contributions to healthcare engineering, fire and life safety, and international business development. She has been nominated as a Women Trailblazer in Security and Fire Safety and was recognized as a Highly Commended Award Winner at the prestigious Intersec Dubai Awards 2024.
