Lavrov Arrives in Cairo for Russia, Africa Partnership Talks
His arrival was confirmed by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Telegram, which highlighted that he is scheduled to meet with several African counterparts during the sidelines of the conference.
The ministry had already announced Lavrov’s participation on Wednesday, noting that foreign ministers from all African nations, along with leaders of the continent’s integration bodies, were invited to take part.
“Trade, economic cooperation, and investment will be at the center of the second ministerial conference's agenda,” the statement emphasized.
Delegates are also expected to review the implementation of the action plan adopted at the second Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg in 2023, and to outline practical measures for its full execution.
The statement further noted that the discussions aim to ensure that the upcoming third Russia-Africa summit is approached "with a set of concrete achievements and new joint initiatives."
The next summit is scheduled for 2026, though the host location has not yet been determined.
